Flashback Friday #1 - Let's Go

August 24, 2016

Hey everyone! I have quite a few scrapbook/Project Life pages that have never made it to my blog whether it may have been because they were posted on another blog or just because I never got around to photographing them, so I have decided to create a series on my blog called Flashback Friday. Every other Friday, I will be sharing a project that I made a while ago that I've never posted on my blog. I am very excited to share these projects with you!

For my first Flashback Friday, I will be sharing this scrapbook page which was actually the first time I did mixed media. I remember not really liking it when I first created it but now, I love it!

The photo is from when I was in Charleston, August last year, and this was the view from the pier. It was a gorgeous pier with beautiful views of the water! I have great memories on this pier and so many wonderful photos, especially at sun set.

Puffy stickers are probably my second favorite embellishments and this "let's go" cloud just fit so well with the photo! Of course I had to add some enamel dots for some interest and this was my first time using glitter enamel dots and I really love how they look on this page.

My number one favorite embellishments are flairs. They are just so gorgeous and add great dimension  to everything.
I don't often use frames but I do like how this frame worked with the photo. The text on the frame didn't really go with the photo so I decided covered it up with a wood veneer star and I love how it looks.

Here you can see some of that watercoloring I did as well as splatters. I wasn't quite sure what I was doing but I think it actually turned out quite nicely!

That is all for my first Flashback Friday! I hope you liked it and I can't wait to share more projects with you in the future!

Saying Goodbye To Gus

July 26, 2016

Today's scrapbook page is one with a lot of meaning. On the 16th, we had to put our cat, Gus, down which was very hard. He was 16 years old and had only recently gotten sick. He had diabetes but earlier this month he started having a lot of trouble breathing, so the vet treated him for an upper respiratory infection but it only got worse. When they did X-Rays they saw that his heart was enlarged and he had fluid in his lungs. At that point, we knew the right thing to do was to put him down.

12x12 Scrapbook Pages

July 10, 2016

Hey everyone, I'm so sorry for being so absent on my blog. My health has kind of been all over the place but I think things are finally looking up.

So today I am sharing two 12x12 scrapbook pages I've created. Usually when I create traditional pages, they are 8.5x11 or 9x12 so doing this size was a little intimidating but I love how both of these pages turned out!

This scrapbook page was created for a challenge by Felicity Jane on National Scrapbook Day and I love it! I do feel like I could have added some more embellishments but apart form that, I love everything.

The tag that is sticking out has some journaling on it. Hidden journaling is definitely my favorite because I'm not the biggest fan of my handwriting.
When going through embellishments, I found enamel dots that had the perfect colors for this layout and I think they look great in this little cluster.

At the bottom of the page, I used a Felicity Jane stamp as well as some more hexagon cut outs and enamel dots. I think it filled in that blank space nicely.

This scrapbook page is probably my favorite one I've created. I love the bright colors and florals, it all just screams "Alex". This photo is from 2014 when I had a photoshoot done by Flashes Of Hope. They do free photoshoots for chronically and terminally ill children and young adults. I had also gotten a photoshoot by them the year before. They are amazing and make you feel so comfortable.

Here is a little close up and you can see some of the smaller details. I love the title "smile & laugh" and although that wasn't what I intended to title this page, it just came together so well.
All of the papers I used are by Felicity Jane and most of the embellishments are by Crate Paper, another one of my favorite brands!

On the bottom left of this layout, I used some washi tape from my stash and layered a little tag which came from a cut-apart sheet from Felicity Jane. The stamped phrase is also from a Felicity Jane stamp set.

I added some more floral pieces at the top as well as some "+" signs from a Crate Paper sticker set. The colors matched this layout so well and just added a little more interest to the page.

That is all for my 12x12 scrapbook pages and I hope you enjoyed them! I will be posting more often now that I am feeling more like myself. I can't wait to share some more projects!

Gossamer Blue December Reveal

December 01, 2015

All I can say about the December Gossamer Blue kits is "wow"! These kits are stunning and I think what I love most is that it isn't Christmas themed. I've seen many kit clubs who have winter/Christmas kits for this month as their main kits. All of December isn't about Christmas. Other things still happen and if you are like me, you will still be catching up on your Project Life album.

This month, I worked on some traditional pages as well as catching up on my regular album. The first thing I created this month was a scrapbook page of Clara in her halloween costume.

Stash Kit - Layouts

August 22, 2015

Hello everyone! Today I am sharing a few pages I have created using my stash kit. I recently posted a video showing what I was including in my stash kit as well as a scrapbook page I created using the kit. I didn't create a blog post for that page so I decided to share that page as well as the other I have created with the kit.

Super Bowl Fun

February 04, 2015

I've never been a fan of American football so Super Bowl sunday isn't a huge deal but that doesn't mean I'm gonna pass up an excuse to go to a party! I went over to my friend Renee's house a bit early so I could help prepare for the party which included helping with the "photobooth".

For this page, I mainly used the Amy Tangerine, Stitched paper pad, which is my absolute favorite paper! I love the colors and patters because they aren't too overwhelming and the colors are nice and subtle.

I'm usually pretty self-conscious about pictures of myself, but I love the pictures we got because you can tell how much fun we were all having. I've started Weight Watchers (that will be a future post) and it feels so good to have some sort of control in my life again. Chronic illnesses take away a lot of control but I'm working very hard at taking it back.

Traditional pages are definitely something I need to work on. I always end up doing the same kind of style which includes a lot of layering which is pretty, but I want more variety with my pages. I think I will start by looking at other people's pages and using them as inspiration and hopefully the more I do, the more comfortable I will be with using different styles.

You Are My Sunshine

November 24, 2014

Clara is one of my favorite things to scrapbook and this page is no exception. I used a Studio Calico paper pack I got from Tuesday Morning which I have completely fallen in love with. I love all the light colors and gorgeous patterns which all go so well together. For the plain blue parts on the page, I just simply watered down some paint and used that as a background.

London 2009

November 17, 2014

I recently started a new Project Life album which contains all my trips to Scotland and England. Scotland will always be home to me and I wanted a place to have all my memories. This layout is when I visited London with my Uncle and mom. We went on the London Eye which had a gorgeous view and surprisingly wasn't too scary!

The Secret to Project Life

November 16, 2014

Within 2 days this week, I got 5 layouts done and I believe I found the secret to Project Life. I always tried to make my layout how I thought other people would like them or in the style I wanted to be. I always loved the layouts with a lot of white and bright colors but any time I tried to achieve that, I never truly loved the layouts. This week I just went with what felt right and I loved every layout even though the style is completely different from what I first tried to achieve.

Work Space

October 04, 2014

Right now, my main work space is my bed. I don't mind it too much since there is a lot of space and I can fit everything I need on my bed. I just don't have a ton of storage and it's pretty annoying when you get up and everything moves around.

I have applied to something called Cherished Creations. It is like Make-A-Wish except it's for kids and young adults with chronic illnesses instead of life threading illnesses. Not too long ago, I wasn't really sure what I would have wanted but then I started to do Project Life and I knew that having a proper craft space would be amazing. If I don't get accepted that's ok. It will just take a bit longer for me to have that craft space.

Different Styles

September 29, 2014

As I continue to make more layouts, I have noticed that I have a few different styles. For some pages, I got with lighter or more colorful paper and for others, I'll use warmer colors, it really depends on the photo I am using.

My Traditional Pages

September 23, 2014

I have a new love for traditional scrapbooking ever since seeing all the gorgeous pages on instagram and pinterest. It is so much fun and you get to be so creative. So as I promised, here are some of my pages.

I apologize for the the bad lighting in some of the pictures. I'm unable to take proper pictures since I'm still recovering from back surgery.

Scrapbooking Inspiration

September 16, 2014

After being inspired by Pinterest and some of my friends, I decided to try some traditional scrapbooking. I've got to say, I'm hooked! Although it takes much longer than Project Life, You get to be so much more creative. I love using all of the different layers of paper and embellishments and half the time, the page turns out completely different from how you planned it, but it's still gorgeous!

I'm also still able to use some Project Life cards while doing it. I just cut off the rounded corners and layer them with all the other paper, it looks great! I've been using 8.5x11paper for these pages just because 12x12 is too big for me when it comes to traditional scrapbooking.

I'll be showing you all some of my pages later in the week but for now, here is a few of my favorite pages I have found on Pinterest so far. :) Enjoy.

Studio Calico - Poet Society

September 11, 2014

I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised with this months kit. It has a lot of nice cards and I love all of the embellishments. I think my favorite part is the wood veneers. I'm pretty obsessed with wood veneers so it's no surprise that I loved them. I took some pictures to show you what was in the kit. Enjoy.

Free Paper

We all love free stuff right? And I'm sure that includes paper. While on Pinterest, I cam across this blog where you can download gorgeous paper. These are great for traditional scrapbooking as well as Project Life. Here are some that I have already downloaded.

I am completely in love with this french script page. It is so elegant and can work for so many different themes of scrapbooking. You can click the picture to see all the different color options.
